Husky Adventure in Reisadalen

Meet our Alaskan huskies and experience real dog sledding in Northern Troms. Learn how to drive your own team, enjoy the Arctic silence, and share a warm moment around the campfire.

The Experience

This is our most popular tour – and for good reason. It can be done by almost everyone.
We start with carts in late September, and as soon as we have enough snow, we switch to sleds.

When you arrive, we make sure everyone is dressed for the weather. We go through safety routines and practical training before meeting the dogs. You’ll learn how to harness your own huskies and prepare your team with help from our guide.

Each sled or cart has two people: one drives, one rides. You’ll switch along the way, so everyone who wants to drive gets the chance. The trail runs along an old rural road where people once lived and worked more than a hundred years ago — today, only our farm remains, surrounded by wilderness.

During the ride, we take short breaks for photos and to rest the dogs. When going uphill, help your team by kicking gently behind the sled; when going downhill, use the brake to slow down so the sled doesn’t go too fast for them.

After the Tour

When we return, guests help unharness the dogs and put them back in their places. The dogs love attention after the run, so take your time to give them some well-deserved cuddles.

We finish the day gathered by the campfire in our wooden shelter, with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and something to bite. Your guide will tell stories about the Alaskan husky, our dogs, and the people who have lived here in Reisadalen since the 1700s.

Photography

There will be designated photo stops during the tour, and the guide will let you know when it’s safe to take pictures.

Dog Welfare

Our huskies are born to run – they love their job and each has its own personality. We keep small groups to ensure both the dogs’ well-being and a personal experience for every guest.

The dogs know the way, even when you can’t see the whole group ahead. Just follow the guide’s instructions and let the dogs lead

“Thank you Linn for the most wonderful time! The dogs are absolutely fabulous, and getting to put their harnesses on and feed them at the end, just adds to the whole experience! Cooking on a fire and drinking hot chocolate and coffee was a great addition, this trip is a must!!!”

Fiona

“This was one of the highlights of our family’s trip. The dogs are very socialized, well trained and well taken care of. The people are friendly, informative and ensure safety for the dogs and the clients. We were able to help prepare the dogs for the sledding which helped us understand the sport better. There was plenty of time for playing with the dogs afterwards, and they really wanted the attention. A nice campfire stop midway and cuddling the 11 week old puppies was a bonus!!!. Thank you!!”
